SB 108 was pre-filed and then pulled from consideration in the Louisiana Senate before the legislative session began on March 9. HB 1158 was filed in the Louisiana House on March 31 and was referred to the House Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture, and Rural Development Committee for consideration on April 1. This legislation did not move out of committee before the end of the state's legislative session on June 1, 2026. The bill was defeated!

Bills have been re-introduced in the Florida state legislature to eliminate failure-to-warn liability claims for Florida residents who are exposed to toxic pesticides and are seeking justice.

Status:
The bills were pre-filed in 2025 on November 18 and November 17, 2025, and are likely to begin moving forward once the 2026 legislative session begins on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
HB 443 was prefiled on November 18, 2025, and referred to Civil Justice & Claims Subcommittee, Housing, Agriculture & Tourism Subcommittee, and Judiciary Committee - it is currently in the Civil Justice & Claims Subcommittee.
The identical bill on the Senate side, SB 518, was prefiled on November 17, 2025, and referred to the Judiciary, Agriculture, and Rules Committees on December 1, 2025. The bills are defeated after failing to move out of committee!
There was also a separate legislative effort to crack down on free speech as it relates to pesticide and fertilizer use on agricultural lands.
Help stop legislation in Florida (SB 290/HB 433) that will disempower members of the public from speaking out against the potential hazards of pesticide and fertilizer products!
Section 48 of SB 290 was added to this piece of legislation on January 15, 2026, and Section 47 of HB 433 was added on January 17, 2026.
While Section 48 was stripped from SB 290 after a hearing in the Senate Rules Committee on February 10, 2026. HB 433 was reported out of the Agriculture & Natural Resources Budget Subcommittee on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, despite public scrutiny. The bill was referred to the House State Affairs Committee, with a hearing likely at a moment's notice!
Update [February 25, 2026]—HB 433 was amended on February 24, removing Section 47. SB 290 was officially amended on February 12, removing Section 48, and subsequently kept out of the final version that was passed in the Senate (referred to formally as “In Messages”) and transmitted to the House on February 19. Thank you to those who took action!

The bill continues to progress in the North Carolina state legislature to eliminate failure-to-warn liability claims for North Carolina residents who are exposed to toxic pesticides and are seeking justice.

Status: While Section 19 of S.639 was not included in S.401, a conference committee was formed to address discrepancies for the final version of the North Carolina Farm Act. The conference committee decided to not include the pesticide liability shield language in S.401, as confirmed in their committee report per their committee report. The full House and Senate voted to pass the North Carolina Farm Act without pesticide liability shield language on June 10, 2026. The bill was defeated!
