Kansas
History of Failure-to-Warn in this State
A bill was introduced in the Kansas state legislature to eliminate failure-to-warn liability claims for Kansas residents who are exposed to toxic pesticides and are seeking justice.
Status: The Kansas House voted in favor [81-36-8] of HB 2476, as amended, on Thursday, January 29, 2026, after the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee voted HB 2476 out of committee on Tuesday, January 27, along party lines. The Senate Agriculture Committee held a hearing on Tuesday, March 10, at 8:30 am CT, according to the latest agenda, however it was not voted on.
HB 2476 did not move out of committee, effectively defeating the bill. However, SB 390—a newly introduced bill on restricting food additives in school meals—was amended to include the pesticide liability shield on March 17, 2026. A vote is expected on the House floor at a moment's notice!
When does the 2026 legislative session begin and end? January 12 to March 27. (Legislative calendars here.)
