The Termimesh System is a physical barrier to subterranean termites which is installed in the foundation of a building at the time of construction. The System is made up of marine-grade (T-316) stainless steel woven wire mesh which can be incorporated into the concrete pour to block all of the hidden entry points in the foundation. Unlike solid metal or plastic, the wire mesh can be incorporated directly into the concrete and attached to pipes and other service penetrations with a stainless steel screw clamp. Cold joints, control joints and all other entry points in a foundation can be protected with the Termimesh System which will last the life of the structure. No chemical pretreatments are required. The Termimesh System offers a full repair warranty. The System is patented (patent no. 5417017) and is installed by trained installers under strict quality control. Only installers certified by Termimesh USA are allowed to install the system. The System is also used to protect wooden utility poles, underground cabling. The Termimesh System has been used to retrofit existing structures which are being renovated so that the entry points through the foundation are exposed.

Definition of Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
The Termimesh System makes the foundation of the house impenetrable by subterranean termites by blocking all of the hidden access points termites cannot enter the building. The concrete foundation itself is a barrier to termites and thus Termimesh, integrated with the reminder of the foundation is impenetrable by termites without the use of any chemical poisons placed on the ground. All of the components of the Termimesh System (stainless steel mesh, stainless steel clamps and the engineered grout called "Termiparge") are non toxic and will not create any environmental harm.
How Pest Problems Are Identified
The annual inspection of a building in which Termimesh is installed is performed by a licensed pest control operator who has been trained in the Termimesh System and is experienced with the habits of subterranean termites. At the time of the installation of the Termimesh System, a map of the building is made identifying all of the potenitial entry points (service penetrations, cold joints, control joints, etc.) and the inspection focuses on those areas.

Practices Used to Prevent or Control Pests
The inspection looks for building movement, which would indicate the cracking in the slab so that any such event can be carefully monitored in the event that the crack did not exist at the time that the Termimesh System was installed and is unprotected. If it appears that a crack in the slabs is allowing termites to enter a Termimesh barrier can be installed over the top of the crack and will prevent any termite entry. The protection of such cracks is an added cost to the owner of the building. An annual inspection report is kept on each home to document that no termites have appeared. The Termimesh System is designed to stop subterranean termites from getting through the hidden access points in the foundation of a building. The Termimesh installer takes the responsibility of identifying those locations and making sure that all access points are protected with a stainless steel wire mesh barrier. All of the installation techniques for the Termimesh System have been thoroughly tested in the field by independent authorities such as the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Evaluation
How Effectiveness of Pest Management Systems is Evaluated
The Termimesh System has been evaluated by independent laboratories around the world. All of the references are provided in the SBCCI Evaluation Report No. 9713. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has published reports on the Termimesh System indecating that it has been found to be 100% effective against all species of subterranean termites. There has never been a failure of the Termimesh materials and almost no failures of the Termimesh System after ten years in use against the most aggressive subterranean termites' species in the world. The University of Hawaii has also tested the system as have numerous scientific and government laboratories in Australia. By performing an annual inspection on buildings in which the Termimesh System has been installed the company keeps complete records of any failures of the system and can produce statistics showing the number of installations and the number of installation errors that have occurred.
