Definition of Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
Use of common sense and products that pose no threat to human or environmental health. A combination of structural and sanitation improvements, if required. Plus, use of Borate powders for internal structural voids and strategic areas. Borate laced baits for exterior perimeters. beneficial nematodes for lawns. We also make recommendations regarding exclusion and deterrence of pests such as landscape modification, keeping trees/plants trimmed back, sealing holes/openings that lead into the structure, proper sanitation practices and elimination of attractants such as pet food left out, open or improperly sealed garbage bins and removal of clutter/potential harborages.
How Pest Problems Are Identified
Pests are identified through the use of sticky traps placed in strategic locations. If our field manuals or we cannot identify the pests, we send them to the county extension office entomologist.
