Whisper Landscape
Maintenance provides basic garden maintenance services, namely: mowing,
weeding, pruning and fertilizing, through the exclusive use of whisper-quiet,
zero-emission electrical appliances (charged by solar panels!) and
all-organic, non-toxic fertilizers and weed/pest control. |
|
What
is your definition of Integrated Pest Management (IPM)? |
|
IPM describes
a strategy towards pest control that utilizes the least invasive forms
of intervention, from taking preventative steps (i.e., planting disease-resistant,
native plants in appropriate garden locations) to deploying a "wait
and see" approach to fostering the presence of additional predatory
and beneficial insects (e.g., ladybugs, lacewings, etc.) and animals
(i.e., birds), followed by the monitoring of such to determine effectiveness. |
|
Is pest management performed on a specific schedule? |
|
How
are pest problems identified? |
|
Pest problems
are identified through visual inspection of foliage. As well, the
effectiveness of pest management efforts are assessed through visual
inspection. |
|
What practices
do you use to prevent and/or control pests? |
|
We promote the
planting of disease-resistant, native plants, and take steps to foster
the presence of naturally occurring predatory and beneficial insects
and animals. |
|
Do you
use biological controls? |
|
We encourage
the presence of beneficial and predatory insects and animals. |
|
Do you
use synthetic chemicals? |
|
What
are the top 10 pesticides you use/sell/recommend? |
|
If pesticides are used, how much are used per year of each? |
|
Does
your company perform habitat modification? |
|
In addition
to encouragin the use of disease-resistant, native plants, we foster
the presence of naturally occurring predatory and beneficial insects
and animals by using plants (e.g., marigolds, sunflower, etc.) and
creating natural habitats to attract them. |
|
Do you
use any physical or mechanical controls? |
|
Hand removal/spray
from a hose. |
|
What
type of fertilizers do you use/sell/recommend? |
|
We primarily
grasscycle/mulch for lawn fertilization and use Dr. Earth and Wormgold
brands for other fertilization. |
