Sterling Pest Management, Inc./Green Team pest control is based on strict IPM principles. Our service is specially designed for chemically sensitive/concerned individuals. Minimal use of pesticides and emphasis on monitoring, sanitation and exclusion are standard procedures. Pesticides used by the Green Team are restricted to natural and naturally derived products as much as possible.


What is your definition of Integrated Pest Management (IPM)?

IPM is a method of situational pest control using least toxic methods for solving pest problems. Pesticides are used as a last resort while relying on identification of pests and conducive conditions to develop an appropriate management strategy.

 

Is pest management performed on a specific schedule?

Services are most commonly performed on a quarterly or bi-monthly basis. Primary service is interior inspection, monitor replacement and exterior baiting for occasional invaders.

 

How are pest problems identified?

Pests are always identified before initiating any service.

What practices do you use to prevent and/or control pests?

Cultural control, harborage removal, food & water removal and exclusion.

Do you use biological controls?

Yes, we use nematodes and Bacillus thuringiensis.

Do you use borates?

Yes, we use Niban (orthoboric acid), Outsmart (boric acid), 99% boric acid dust, Timbor (boric acid) and other borate termiticides and baits.

Do you use synthetic chemicals?

We use Advance (abamectin), PI (pyrethrum), Avert (avermectin), Termidor (fipronil), Premise (cypermethrin), Maxforce gel (fipronil), Dual Choice (sulfuramid), Precor (methoprene), Gentrol (hydroprene) and BP50 (pyrethrum).

Quantity varies according to the pest and its efficacy. New products are added regularly.

Yes. Moving wood piles, feeding pets away from house, watering less often, trimming or removing vegetation.

Physical or mechanical controls include caulk, screening, spun polyester for weep holes or bird repellant spikes.
