Residential
Mold Services (RMS) is a full-service mold company. We provide inspection,
testing, consulting, and remediation of microbial growth for homeowners
in the Delaware Valley (portions of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and
Delaware). We advocate best practices for mold prevention and remediation
which does not include the use of chemicals. The team at RMS is led
by an environmental scientist with a PhD and a home construction expert,
both with years of experience. Home owners are provided with quality
service at low prices. Our mission is to improve human health in the
home environment. |
|
What
is your definition of Integrated Pest Management (IPM)? |
|
IPM is approaching
the problem from all angles by incorporating the necessary disciplines
or knowledge to rectify pest problems without the use of chemicals
that are man-made and/or harmful to a person's health or to the environment.
|
|
Is pest management performed on a specific schedule? |
|
How
are pest problems identified? |
|
Most of our inspections
are conducted by visual examination and use of olfactory senses. History
of the problem is discussed with the client before work begins. Testing
is a last resort and only necessary in litigation or if mold source
is undiscoverable. |
|
What practices
do you use to prevent and/or control pests? |
|
RMS provides
recommendations for prevention such as the use of dehumidifier, cleanup
of water intrustion within 24-48 hours, removal of nutrient souces
for fungi and bacteria such as drywall, and careful watch for signs
of growth or water leak. Remediation typically includes removing growth,
identifying and/or correcting source of problem, HEPA vacuuming and
non-chlorine bleach/water solution. Products for encapsulating material
and only recommended if growth covered extensive areas and/or costs
are prohibitive for removal. Products are certified through EPA, but
are only used as a last resort. |
