What is your definition of Integrated Pest Management (IPM)?

The scheduled scouting of properties to monitor pest levels. The correction of environmetnal and soil factors to make the plant healthy. The judicious use of organic or chemical pesticide only when all else fails.

Is pest management performed on a specific schedule?

Scouting only on a regular schedule with a soil test.

How are pest problems identified?

Visually.

What practices do you use to prevent and/or control pests?

Plant the right plants in the right place. Use of compost, lime, etc. for soil. Soaps, oils, anti-dessicants, etc. Arborjet tree injection.

Do you use biological controls?

Not yet.

Not yet.

Do you use synthetic chemicals?

Have used Roundup, Thiram in deer repellant, Lorsban for scale (chlorpyrifos), Orthene for scale

Compost for soil (500 yards per year), highly refined horticultural oil, deer repellant, anti-dessicant

Horticultural oil- 600 gallons mixed (total), deer repellant- 30 gallons mixed, anti-dessicant- 30 gallons

Leave "snags" for wildlife, encourage wild lawns and bird-friendly seed mixes for lawns.
