Northwest
Termite is an integrated pest management company in that we use the
least toxic materials suited for the job we are doing. We perform
structural pest inspections for real estate transactions, consult
on structural modifications (exclusion, moisture control, correction
of conducive conditions that may attract pests) for prevention of
infestation of both wood destroying organisms and general pests. We
use Structural Pest Control Board approved devices such as the electro-gun,
for control of drywood termites when appropriate. If treatment is
necessary, we use water based materials rather than petroleum based
materials. |

|
What
is your definition of Integrated Pest Management (IPM)? |
|
IPM
is a prescriptive approach to pest control versus a one size fits
all approach, combining quality inspections with appropriate use of
baiting, monitoring, focused chemical application (not just broadcast
spraying), sanitation and exclusion. IPM is primarily "low-impact
pest management" with permanent or long-term reduction in the
target pest population. |
|
Is pest management performed on a specific schedule? |
|
Branch
II pest control customers are treated with monthly, bimonthly, or
annual services. Every situation is different. We use a prescribed
program rather than "one size fits all." |
|
|
|
|
How are pest problems identified? |
|
Pest
problems are identified by customer complaints. We usually do an inspection
to determine the "target" pest, find entrance and exit areas,
why are they infesting the house, what structural or other modification
could inhibit their entry. We will attempt to disrupt their cycle,
block access, treat the infestation and monitor. |

|
We

Do you
use biological controls? |
|
We
use nematodes for flea control on exterior spray. |
|
We
like borates, and use them for ant and roach control, wood injection
for drywood termites, wood treatment as a fungicide and as preventive
treatment for other pests. |
|
|
|
|
Do you
use synthetic chemicals? |
|
What
are the top 10 pesticides you use/sell/recommend? |
