Green Acres
Organics is a 100% organic lawn and garden treatment service that
specializes in Organic Fertilizing and Soil Enhancement with an emphasis
on alternatives to pest control. We focus on creating a living healthy
lawn that obtains its nutrients through a natural process. Our all-in-one
proprietary product contains all the macro and micro nutrients needed
for sustainable growth and offers protection through the use of horticultural
oils. It is even more efficient than chemical products because it
focuses on a permanent transition instead of continual commitment.
Our product is specially formulated to improve root growth in grass
and plants. This results in a deeper denser root structure that draws
moisture and nutrients from the soil more efficiently. The result
is a lawn or garden that grows thicker and greener, without growing
"up" any faster, which attracts herbivorous insects and
needs to be cut or maintained more often. A Green Acres Organics lawn
holds and utilizes moisture better, and requires less frequent watering.
It increases the vitality of the grass and plants from the roots up,
for better conditioned, drought and disease resistant lawn or garden.

What
is your definition of Integrated Pest Management (IPM)? |
|
Our definition
of IPM is utilizing a responsible approach to lawn and garden protection
through the implementation of minimally intrusive or destructive methods.
For us this means providing plants and grasses the proper amount of
nutrition through natural ingredients to create healthy plants and
soils that will not attract pests, disease, and fungus. We also enable
plants with additional protection by adding horticultural oils to
our ingredients. |
|
Is pest management performed on a specific schedule? |
|
We have an all-in-one
proprietary product that is recommended for application once per month
for transitioning lawns. Once a healthy lawn is established it will
naturally deter just about all pests, but we also include a combination
of horticultural oils for added protection. |
|
How
are pest problems identified? |
|
Yes we do observe
visible insects on plants to ensure that we are not spraying on the
beneficial ones such as ladybugs, ladybird larvas and beetles and
honeybees. |
| |
|
|
What practices
do you use to prevent and/or control pests? |
|
We advise customers
to utilize best management practices on their lawn to keep it healthy.
Their initiatives along with our product creates a self-sustainable
ecosystem that coexist with nature in harmony. |
| |
|
|
Do you
use biological controls? |
|
Directly no,
however, when customers decide to use our service we instruct them
not to utilize pesticides with our product, because we introduce and
encourage the growth and activity of microbial life with their soil. |
| |
|
|
Do you
use synthetic chemicals? |
|
What
are the top 10 pesticides you use/sell/recommend? |
|
If pesticides are used, how much are used per year of each? |
|
Does
your company perform habitat modification? |
|
Do you
use any physical or mechanical controls? |
|
What
type of fertilizers do you use/sell/recommend? |
|
Our product
ingredients and forumula are proprietary but our primary ingredient
is fish oil. |

What
do you usually use/sell/recommend for addressing: |
|
crabgrass |
Crabgrass along
with many other "weeds" thrive on unhealthy lawns. And weed
are just plants that people don't want in their grass. They can live
in compact soils and thrive when you cut your lawn too short or water
it in frequent short intervals. We always recommend that customers
raise the height on their mowers to the recommended levels for their
type of grass. Social expectations have made people to believe that
their lawn is supposed to be short like carpet, but it's not. Grass
is a plant, and it needs its leaves to assist in growth and sustainment.
We also recommend that customers water only when their lawn needs
it and to put enough water on it to last, so that the roots will have
to work for it. If customers use our product to promote healthy soil
and utilize best management practices to maintain their lawn. They
will not have to worry about Crabgrass and if they or we do find any
we should just pull it up. I encourage people to remember the acronym
RILE. Relax (don't panic and use something we may regret), Identify
(what is is), Listen (why is it here), Eradicate (how can we responsibly
make it go away). |
|
How do
you evaluate effectiveness of your pest management |
|
How do you
evaluate the effectiveness of your pest management systems? We conduct
an analysis of your plants and soil before our first treatment to
access nutrient levels and microbial activity. Throughout our process
we consult with the customers on ways to prevent attracting herbivorous
insects and we re-evaluate semi-annually to show the customers the
prgress and document the results. |
