What is your definition of Integrated Pest Management (IPM)?

IPM is a site-specific system of management of pests, starting with exclusion. If monitoring indicates high level of pests, baits may be used with more monitoring, physical controls (ex. caulking), doorstrips, screen repair, and habitat modification.

Is pest management performed on a specific schedule?

Only monitoring is done on a schedule. Pesticides are never applied without monitoring for pest populations, and are never applied according to scheduling.

How are pest problems identified?

Sticky traps (pheramone traps for roaches & moths) are used.

What practices do you use to prevent and/or control pests?

Check, repair or install door strips. We also monitor with sticky traps.

Do you use biological controls?

Yes, nematodes are applied to the soil (and in the galleria for termites) and used for flea control on grass in yards.

Do you use borates?

Yes. Borate liquid, granular & plate (Stapleton's, Niban, Timbor, Dr. Moss) baits used for Ant, Carpenter Ant, Cricket, Roach & silverfish management.

Do you use synthetic chemicals?

Pyrethrum with diatomaceous earth is occasionally used for outside nests of yellow jackets & hornets.

What are the top 10 pesticides you use/sell/recommend?

TimBor; Niban; Victor Pheramone Traps; Diatomaceous Earth; Allure Indian Meal Moth Traps; Dr. Moss Out bait.

If pesticides are used, how much are used per year of each?

N/A

Does your company perform habitat modification?

Drainage changes to discourage termites, removal of mulch for founations or of carboard boxes & clutter for roaches or silverfish.

Do you use any physical or mechanical controls?

Yes. Caulking around pipes & electrical conduits, replacing door strips, installing gravel to replace mulch at foundations, caulking cracks in kitchens, etc. For fungus gnats, soil in indoor plants must be dried out and stirred.

What type of fertilizers do you use/sell/recommend?

Amaze Corn Gluten pre-emergence weed killer.

What do you usually use/sell/recommend for addressing:

termites TimBor, nematodes, external baits.

cockroaches Pheramone Traps and boric acid baits.

fleas Perma-Treat boric acid powder (then vacuumed up).

carpenter ants Niban bait.

fire ants Not a problem in my area.

ants (indoor) Niban-FG.

crabgrass Overseeding and corn gluten.

dandelions Corn gluten pre-mergence.

other Yellow jackets-ground nest vacuuming and VictorPest mint oil spray. Mice-copper exclusion mesh.

How do you evaluate effectiveness of your pest management

Monitoring with sticky traps is performed after any treatment for crawling insects. Yearly termite monitoring inspections performed (monthly for external baits stations in season.)
