is RSS?
RSS
stands for "Rich Site Summary" or "Really Simple Syndication,"
depending on whom you ask. RSS feeds are posted in a format called XML.
Beyond Pesticides is using RSS to deliver summaries of our Daily News
and Action Alterts. You can use Beyond Pesticides' RSS Feed in
three ways: 1) By installing an RSS reader and subscribing to
our feed, automatically alterting you to the latest news and action items;
2) If you or your organization have a website, you can also use our RSS
feed to post links to new items from our RSS feed on your website. This
means with very little effort, you can have the latest Beyond Pesticides
Daily News and/or Action Alerts on your website; 3) By streaming Beyond
Pesticides Daily News and Action Alerts to your customized
Google homepage.

Why Should I Use RSS?

- RSS lets you decide what to receive. You only get the information you are interested in. We do not collect any information (email addresses) when you sign up for a feed.
- RSS allows you to have new information on your website, without constant updating. With a one-time setup, our RSS feeds can automatically post Beyond Pesticides latest Daily News and Action Alerts on your website.
How
Do I Get Started?
To begin receiving notifications of new information from Beyond Pesticides,
including Daily News and the latest Action Alerts and updates, just follow
this easy, four-step process:
Step 1: Download
an RSS reader program.
Since most people don't speak XML, you will need a program that is capable
of translating the code for our RSS feeds into an understandable message.

Step 2: Select
the content you wish to recieve.

Step 3: Copy

Copy the feed's address from the address bar in your web browser. You
will need website addresses for each feed you wish to subscribe to. For
your convenience, we have included the subscription addresses for each
feed. You can obtain the address for a particular feed elsewhere on Beyond
Pesiticdes' site by clicking the XML image.
Step 4: Subscribe
to the RSS feed.
Open your new RSS reader program and find the program's "Subscribe"
or "Add Feed" function. Now paste the web address of each RSS
feed you wish to subscribe to in the space provided.
The subscription process will differ depending on the RSS reader program you use. You may wish to consult the program's "Help" section to find out how to add RSS feeds in your RSS reader.
You will immediately receive information from our RSS feeds and will automatically receive notifications on new content at www.beyondpesticides.org. How Do I Add Beyond Pesticides Daily News and Action Alerts to my customized Google search page?
1. Go to http://www.google.com/ig.
2. Click on "Sign In."
3. If you already have a google account (gmail, etc.), sign in. IF NOT, click in "Create an account now."
4. In the upper right corner, click on "Add Content."
5. Click on "Create a Section," then copy and paste the following in the box: http://www.beyondpesticides.org/dailynewsblog/?feed=rss2 (this will add the Daily News headline to your personal Google page).
6. Click on Click on "Create a Section" again and copy and paste the following in the box: http://www.beyondpesticides.org/feeds/ActionAlerts.xml (this will add the Action Alerts to your personal Google page)
7. Items may be dragged around the page, and items may be deleted by clicking on the "x" in the corner to customize your page.
8. To make this your homepage, follow the homepage instructions on your browser (For Internet Explorer, choose "Tools" -> "Internet Options" and type: www.google.com/ig).
How
Do I Post the Beyond Pesticides RSS Feeds on My Website?
If you think that visitors to your website would be interested in the
most current Beyond Pesticides content, you may want to use our RSS feed
to display our Daily News and/or Action Alterts on your site. There
are several ways to do this, some have advantages or disadvantages compared
to others. The best solution is one where the webpage is automatically
updated on-the-fly, is easily spidered by search engine robots, and easy

Implementation: There are three ways the RSS to HTML PHP script can be implemented on your website.
1. Put a free copy of the rss2html.php script on your webserver and call it by passing the URLs of your feed and webpage template files.
2. Put a free copy of the rss2html.php script on your webserver and edit its feed and template variables
3. Run the rss2html.php script from a server, passing it the URLs of your feed and webpage template files free of charge.
4. Pass your feed to the RSS2HTML server which will display the feed in an html format free of charge.
