Our Family Lab mix died of cancerous tumor on her spleen and internal bleeding. Later analysis indicated that the Chemicals used in treating the lawn are what caused the illness. I am still fighting to have this trash they call Weed Killer and Herbacide banned. It is still a fight even with my own father who still refuses to believe it happens, even though it has happened to us in the past.

Thank you for raising awareness!

I am surprised at how little people understand the dangers of lawn pesticides. I see my neighbors, who adore their children, spraying weed killer with smiles on their faces.

According to several studies, children who are exposed to home and garden pesticides have up to a seven-fold increased risk of developing leukemia. ("Occupational and Environmental Medicine", 2006). Dogs who are allowed to play on lawns where chemical weed killer has been used, are three times more likely to develop lymphomas. What about our children? Humans were not a part of this study since it is felt that dogs have more contact with the lawn than humans. As a mother of four boys, I would argue this case strongly.

Use organic products ONLY. If they do not satisfy your need for a perfect lawn, choose rocks.

The quote we use in the section of our book that discusses this, is one parents with concern over their childrens health should know: "Weeds are flowers too, once you get to know them" -Eeyore, from A.A. Milne's "Winnie the Pooh".

Thanks!
